When air conditioning a home, there seems to be a lot of debate about letting the blower motor run continuously. This is the process of circulating air on a 24/7 basis. A lot of the articles published on the internet regarding this issue state that it is very expensive to let the fan run on the continuous mode and the benefits do not outway the cost. Up to about 10 years ago, I would have agreed with this school of thought. However, with the invention of new fan technology (fans with ECM or variable speed motors), it has become more economical to let the fan run.
There are many benefits to letting the blower motor run continuously. A few are: prolonged equipment life, more even temperatures throughout the house, better filtration. Also, moving air during hot spells is more comfortable than still air. The blower motor performs the same function as a ceiling fan by circulating air.
